Hello! I love so many smaller bands/artists but I'll try to narrow down a few for this post.

Saving Vice are a metalcore act very reminiscent of 2009 era metalcore but with their own twist on it. They've also released a handful of acoustic tracks which I think were done great. Hard working guys and definitely a band to be looking out for in 2021.

Stuck Out are a pop punk act out of Australia. Discovered them randomly one day and became obsessed. If you like acts like Knuckle Puck/Neck Deep you're gonna love these guys.

VRSTY layers R&B vocals over heavier instrumentation to create a beautiful blend of great music. Definitely check out their newest EP "Cloud City"! A band to be looking out for for sure.

at the beginning of the pandemic I helped put together this compilation of mostly unknown and underground artists as a benefit for Feeding America. We've raised over $1,000 for the charity so far. It is a mix of both studio and bedroom recordings. There are few of the limited edition cassettes left and, if you're into that sort of thing, I would love it if you bought one =]

I'm not sure how underground they are, but there's this band called Witch mountain that i enjoy a lot, I also enjoy Aranya, inverted crosses, and lividus which are Uta plotkin's( former witch Mountain vocalist) bands. Another band to check out is Dress the dead which is fronted by current witch mountain singer Kalya Dixon. Both vocalists are amazing singers.

Bright & Harrowing is a new fave of mine: They've only released one song (this is a side project for some of the members, plus, you know, pandemic), but I love it. It's called "Breathe In, Breathe Out."

Ok i always take every opportunity to plug my favorite québécois artists so if you like french here’s some hot recs

Ariane Moffatt has some of the best produced dance pop bops I’ve ever seen, one of those artists who almost never misses

Klô Pelgag makes some super cool dreamy baroque pop stuff that has a really unique vibe and sounds like nothing else

Malajube is an indie rock classic, a super loud, crunchy, rough 00s sound, if that’s your thing they’re a must listen.

I'm super surprised mtvghosts hasn't gotten popular. very cool and strange synth/dreampunk. at times they kinda have a weird tally hall vibe? dude only has like 300 monthly visitors on spotify, go check him out.

frank okay is a newer chicago artist, he makes good stuff too. also synth heavy. he does all his own art and its fucking good.

I am not even sure if he still makes music but "Heccra" is a really good and really underappreciated midwest emo, screamo, metalcore artist.

I recommend his album "The Devil-Faces of My Old Friends, Beneath Me" if you like loud and fast emo/screamo/metalcore.

Another artist would be "your arms are my cocoon". Also an emo, screamo artist but this time also kittencore and the sound is way more lo-fi and calm than Heccra. He currently has one album out that is a self titled and is taking a little break from social media but I imagine that he will be back soon.

"I Hate Sex" are also really good. They are a female fronted, loud, emo, screamo band that have as of now unfortunately disbanded but you can still listen to their music.
I recommend their album "Circle Thinking".

And last one: "Sadness". Not sure if they are a band or an artist but they have a ton of albums. Their genre is black metal and shoegaze and I recommend their album "I want to be there".

Portraits of Past

Portraits of past was a post-hardcore band emerging from 1993. The genre of music that they helped create is often described as "screamo" though that term was not used at the time the band was active and the band grew popularity after their breakup in 1995. They eventually did a reunion and released Cypress Dust Witch in 2009 before breaking up again in that same year. I've discovered them during my exposure to "skramz" and learning how the genre became to be.

Vacant Home

Vacant Home is a melodic hardcore band formed in the late 2016. They have an EP titled "Reflect, Respond" released on June 16, 2017 and released a single called "Knife's Edge" and it's sadly going to be the last song that features the old vocalist. As of today they're currently writing songs for an upcoming album and according to the band, they've made 4 songs already. It's one of those bands I found in Dreambound, and they really pleased my ears just by hearing "Shiver" and it literally gave me shivers down my spine after that "YOU ARE THE SHIVER DOWN MY SPINE" for the first time.

And those two are the best that I can think of in my head lmao there's plenty more but I would suggest you find some on your own. There's definitely more uncommon bands than you think. They release some great music but has not reached peak mainstream, and IMO, they're better off just staying underground since I think they have more creative freedom to write some stuff, and are better at doing music than what the mainstream wants again IMO.

omg hi so i absolutely specialize in obscure bands , here r 2 of my favorites !!

Willow Wisp; north hollywood based melodic, experimental, gothic black metal with hints of industrial sprinkled throughout their discography. (@Willowwispband on facebook!)

Fashion Bomb; chicago based industrial, heavily associated with artists such as marilyn manson, dope, crossbreed, and many more. although fashion bomb has been on a sort of hiatus since new years eve 2015, their vocalist and guitarist, Val and Acid have gone on to form DEVILS (@allhaildevils on most socials)

Kawaii Af (https://spacehey.com/kawaiiaf) (pop-punk group that are just the best)
Dog Park Dissidents (queer punk band, incredibly awesome)
Cardboard Box Colony (pop-punk but leaning towards the latter)
The Muslims (fantastic all-POC, all-queer punk band)

Fucking Werewolf Asso (yeah, the name, I know lmao). I barely see anybody talking about them, and unfortunately they haven't made anything since like 2017. Their earlier stuff is more chiptune and their later stuff falls closer to punk.

I recommend their album "Why Do You Love Me Satan?" as a sorta intro to their stuff but some other favourite songs of mine from them are:

-Jemina Pearl
-Keep my adress to yourself
-Stop screaming! It's just what the bomb wants us to do

There's a band called Idol Giants that are just getting started in the UK, they're super young but I think they could be pretty big. I don't hear Pale Waves talked about too much but their latest album is one of my current faves.
