I'd been wanting to live out October 21st, 2024 in Japan since first playing Majin Tensei 2 in 2006 and had thought for a long time that I'd have to use a big American city as a substitute and have a big SMT otaku party. I even brought clothes to cosplay as Naoki, Kaoru, and Tomoharu. If I could find others who'd wanted to geek out with me over there, I would've brought them with me.
I learned from my adventure that Shin Megami Tensei merchandise is, believe it or not, very frustrating and difficult to find in Akihabara except for the occasional Jack Frost figurine. I did find a game shop that sold the Super Famicom cartridges for both Majin Tensei games and then some, but that's about it. Ueno does have the marshes featured in 2024 Slum Tokyo, but they aren't red and toxic; you'd just get arrested if you stepped into them.
Assuming I don't somehow get myself banned from Japan and I'm still alive, I'll definitely try to go in the year 2040. By then, I don't even think all of the devs and staff will be alive anymore, lol.
