Webtoon Journey (Mistakes I made & tips)

Hi there!

I'm currently working on a new Webtoon called "Aeon". Hopefully I will be launching it next week. Prior to this I was working on another Webtoon called "My Last Breath" (on hiatus). And I have learnt a lot from it. I want to share with you the mistakes I made and some tips I have observed.

- Comic book art is about speed. If you draw it like an illustration or a painting then the process will be extremely slow and you will/might get tired of it eventually.

- Quality art is important but it is not vital. Some of the most popular Webtoons do not have the best art but they capture the readers attention because of the amazing storytelling.

- The standard size of Webtoon is 800x1280 which in return will pixelate your canvas (in procreate at least). To combat this I had to adjust some settings of my brushes.

- The community in Webtoon is AMAZING! So many times I have seen some artists apologizing and needing to take a break and the response from their fans were extremely positive. Always empathizing "health first"! So do not force yourself to upload if you are not feeling well.

I hope these will help you out if you are thinking of starting a web comic. I am still learning from this journey and have a long way to go. I will make more Forums/Blogs along the way. :D

1) The Webtoon is a robot. It has to know its environment and how it behaves. It needs a human presence and it can't just walk around. It also doesn't have the right tools. The Webtoon can't do anything for its human owner and needs someone else to help it do its work.

2) If the user is not an owner, the Webtoon needs to know its surroundings and the environment around it. If it's not able to do this, the robot can't even be in its environment, so the user needs someone else.

3) The webtoon can only be used as an object for a certain time period. This is a problem with Webtoons. It needs a person to be able to do it for the whole day or the whole day. If there's a lot of users and the robot doesn't want to do something that's impossible or it needs someone to help it with that task, then there is an opportunity to have the robot do the work that the users would like it to be doing for a certain period of time. This is called "time travel". If you want a robot that will do anything for a certain period, the robot will be doing the work it needs. This means that you need a person to help it do this. The robot needs to be able to do this, but the person can't just do that work and the user needs somebody to help it.

4) The webtoon needs the human to have some control over it. If the robot has no user control over its work, then it can't be doing any work for the human user. If the webtoon has no user control over its work, then it cannot do anything. The robot needs to know that there is a user in the world and it can't just be a human. The webtoon can only be useful for one purpose: the robot needs a human to be in its world
