Oh I have never done tech writing but I can only imagine that being the case.

I tried the freelance writing approach, mostly from a journalistic angle, but could never find the right fit. Ended up just putting that career idea to the wayside. Considering the current state of journalism, particularly pop culture news reporting (every article feels more like a biased blog entry that actual reporting), I'm glad I didn't pursue it.
