here is some ambiance for you to enjoy while i describe my favorite moments below LMAO

since there are quite literally 10 whole movies to discuss, i will keep my thoughts short (for now) and will instead describe my top traps for each movie!!! i will also be going in the order of the movie releases, NOT the chronological order.

 TW there are snapshots of each trap so if ur squeemish, uh pick a different movie review <3

Saw (2004)

the reverse bear trap

you are a foooool! if you don't pick this iconic trap/j. the impact this baby has will follow the movies and fans forever!! we love u amanda young. if you dont know how the trap works, essentially the  jaws of the trap are shut w force n tension. when the time on the clock behind the mask ran out, the jaws will open up (backwards) and  rip her jaw apart. for amanda, she had to kill a guy (another patient of jill (john kramer's wife) since the key was in his stomach. she ends up succeeding. queen. this being said i have to shoutout lawrence and adam, what amazing characters and i love love love the bathroom set. MWAH. 

Saw II (2005)

the needle pit

if this trap doesn't make you sick to your stomach... idk what will. poor amanda man always getting her ass picked on. (huge spoiler ? this movie is over 20 years old so if you havent seen it.. come on) but! this trap was not meant for amanda (she was in on the entire thing as she is an accomplice to john); it was meant for xavier. basically, in this test given that xavier was an addict, he would have to sift thru used needles to try and find the key (which was attached to a needle with green liquid). AFTER ALLLLLL THAT, she finds the key and the dumbfuk xavier literally couldnt get it in the door and they "lost" the antidote behind it. this is one of my favorite traps from the entire franchise and if youd like to see how it was made ---> press here.

Saw III (2006)

i have two

the pig vat

oh my god. this is one of the most disgusting traps... so "SLOW MF JEFF!" (iykyk) the main character of this movie, lost his son due to a drunk driving accident, and this bozo in the pic was the judge. basically... he is chained down to the bottom of this vat where rotten pig carcasses were on a conveyor belt on the ceiling which would be dropped into a grinder... the guts would then fill up the vat with the judge drowning.. in guts.. so with jeff, jeff has to burn his sons toys and belongings in order to get the key to free the judge. he slllowwwwllly helps but the judge ends up dying later in a stupid way so womp 

the rack 

oh brother... here we have timothy young, the driver who killed jeffs son. his limps and head were connected to the machine and when activited, would twist the limb/head 360. this is one of the rare traps to make me genuinely cringe. to live, jeff would have to grab a key that was in front of a shotgun and would trigger if the key was pulled (giving him little time to move out of way) . jeffs slow ass took so long to decide what to do, that by time he pulled it (which ended up firing and shooting the judge) , timothy was already too twisted up and died. 

Saw IV (2007)

ice block trap

ok so theres a lot to explain, eric matthews is the dad/kinda main character from the saw II movie. his son was kidnapped by john and put into the gas house trap. however, bc jigsaw is basically the riddler (and damn near the rizzler lmao), the son was kept in a safe literally in the room where john and matthews were. so if he had just waited, he wouldve been fine. 

now hes back again getting tested (again?), by standing on a melting ice block with a chain around his neck. if he fell off, then detective hoffman would be fried to bits with the water supposedly going to connect to wires. (uh ya his ass was also working for john LMAO, that water wasnt gonna do shit).

anyways, this whole movie is officer daniel riggs game, and i guess his issue is that hes... too good as his job LMAOOO. his lesson is that he cant help everyone. so for this final test, he was told not to open the door that leads to this room. guess what this dumbass does, you guessed it, he opens it. and so something is triggered leading to two giant ice block pendulums swinging on each side of matthews face and bye bye head. 

Saw V (2008)

the glass coffin

hellllo special agent peter strahm!! our victim of this trap. im kinda running off of memory while writing these so bare with me theres not a whole lot to say with this. basically strahmn is in the room with a glass coffin semi filled with glass shards. its open with a recording from jigsaw hoffman, telling him that the only way to survive is to get in the box. ofc he doesnt believe it and with hoffman now in the room, strahm only feels more rattled n untrusting. he shoves hoffman in the box and closes it on him. get this,,, the room starts to close in, squishing stram and causing hoffman to survive.

Saw VI (2009)

pounds of flesh trap

okay not a lot to say about this other than people try to cut off as much flesh to pass the test. poor girl was paired with a guy who was.. um.. able to donate a lot more than her. but she goes literally beast mode and cuts her arm off. FUN FACT the actress actually won her role in a competition in the show "scream queens" (2008)

shotgun carousel 

probably one of the most stressful traps in the entire series. so these six people strapped to this spinning carousel are from an aggressive insurance company who denied johns treatment and overall find any reason to deny someone's coverage. the entire movie focuses on their boss, william easton and he must decide who lives and who doesn't. if he wants to skip the person it stops on, a metal bit drills into his hand (where he has to stick his hand for the button). youre lying if you didnt think about what u would say if you wanted someone to keep you alive. 

Saw: The Final Chapter (or Saw 7 3D) (2010)

the public execution trap

honestly this movie is so dogshit idk what to tell ya. this girl is cheating on two guys who are on either side of her sitting (uhh shes on the ceiling that will be lowered). and either the guys can fight to push a saw towards the other or they can not move the saw and have the girl be lowered onto it. ya they made the right choice, ,, got her ass lmaoo.

Saw X (2023)

wait this just might be the second most disgusting trap ever. also side note i loved this movie soooo much, after years of waiting for a good saw movie.. we got it folks!!!! anyways, this is a huge shift in the chronological order of the movies with this being during the beginning of johns cancer diagnosis. he hears from another cancer "patient" about an experimental treatment in mexico. he goes and valentina (pictured) and other scammers fake a brain surgery. john obv seeks revenge. sooo for valentinas trap she is tied against a pole with a wire saw against her neck. which will (and does) decapitate her if she cant cut off her leg and suck out x amount of bone marrow. she was so close in "winning" but her slight hesitation caused her to fail.
