how to convince parents to let me have a cat?

for clarification, we are easily able to financially support getting a pet cat, we have the space, its literally just that its a responsibility and that my dad doesnt like the idea of getting a cat. i rlly wanna get a cat by the start of this year bc were moving then to a new place and that means new stuff and that means cat bc ofc it does i love cats they were my first hyperfixation. anyways, what can i do to prove that i can handle taking care of a cat? we currently have a kinda big dog that i feed, but am not able to take on walks (i have like no muscle and he loves to pull on the leash), and i occasionally take out the trash. im kinda guessing that MAYBE if i take on more responsibilities that my parents' minds will be changed but idk if there will ever be something thatll actually work for them (it took them 9-12 years for them to be convinced to get a dog). send tips pls, the need is getting bad enough that i might just steal one of my friend's five cats (not actually but still)
