heyyy spooky people, this... this is a scary movie...
for context, when i watched this movie, it was for my 2024 31/31 challenge (check bulletins for old schedule), and i watched this right before going to sleep when it was pitch dark and the house was quiet (both the best and worst decision ever). the tension build-up of this movie is so well done as well as the story building concerning the.. "blessing". maybe it was my sleepy brain but it didnt connect quick enough that this blessing symbol/hand symbol/chant was actually a curse. but boy did it leave me uneasy.
and guys you already know im a slut for found footage, but the footage here felt .. homey. im not sure if that makes sense, but the relationships between characters felt so realistic. yes, the child and mother could be a real relationship. the friend group seems like genuine friends. these are characters i am invested in! since the clips throughout this movie are cut/pasted from different points in time, i am finding myself waiting to see everyone again, wanting to see the end of their story (the both fear and need to see what is in the tunnel is so perfect)
being somewhat superstitious and definitely being terrified with religious horror, this had all the characteristics of a terrifying movie for me.
the feeling of dread is only increased by learning that the curse is spread to you to me to everyone watching. and ofc this is just a movie, but at the time of watching, the very very very slim chance that i was cursed was enough to cause so much paranoia in my head that i was terrified lol.
GULP!
