creep review!!!
in this i will only be reviewing the original creep movie, not creep 2 or the creep tapes, BUT please please please use this forum to drop your reviews on all creep media!! once again, the following review will have spoilers so please watch the movie first before reading!!
i love this movie. and i know i know i am quite literally the biggest slut for any found footage movie, but this is genuinely really good! nothing is scarier than awkwardness and second-hand embarrassment (lol), mark duplass plays a creep so extremely well.
in the beginning, you can't help but to see every red flag imaginable yet still feel bad for the guy. awkward storytelling, uncomfortable scenes (yes im talking about you bath scene lol), and increasing the fear of feeling watched/trapped just adds to the overall enjoyment i have for this movie.
in all seriousness, horror for me ofc entails jumpscares/the paranormal/etc. but the fear of what another human being can do to you is unsettlingly realistic. there is no need for some demonic reasoning for his lust for murder, there is just evil in some people. the casualness of his crime is even more unsettling esp seeing at the end of him rewatching the murder of aaron (the axe thud makes me actually nauseous lol).
i know some people just find the movie "weird" and it is! but its defining the line between just a weird guy and a dangerous situation that leads you into an anxious spiral throughout the movie. and i love it :3
