hereditary review! finally getting some reviews finished up! and ofc there will be spoilers so please watch the movie before reading!

this may be a downer to read at first BUT i dont have this super elaborate in-depth analysis on hereditary. ofc ari aster always puts a fairly "normal" metaphor within his insanely elaborate movies (like breakups and midsommar), and if i were to pick something to equate hereditary with, it would be the "passing down" of mental illness (duh hereditary) and despite the efforts of shielding or attempting to suppress the next generations (charlie and peter) effects of this, it exists, it continues. and the obsessiveness of control (esp shown thru annies miniatures) is not enough to end this cycle. ya ya ya ya. 

it is a great movie, one with so many tiny easter eggs that you can rewatch and always find something new! im obsessed with the practical effects!!! it looks so real and brutal yet its sooo hard to look away. god if i had to pick one of my favorite scenes, it would either be the scene where annie and peter are talking while peter is in bed and it cuts to them both being wet (im assuming paint thinner). good lord tense scene. 

anyways loved the movie, could've made this review a bit longer but would love to read what other people think!
