so it sounds bad but hear me out. im into a lot of alternative rock and while i dont consider myself part of the emo subculture, i do want to dress in outfits inspired by the style. ik in order to be part of the subculture you kinda have to be into the music, but i've always wondered if itd be cool with other emos/alternative ppl if a guy who listens to some alt music but a lot of pop too dressed in the style

as someone who listens to a pretty wide variety of music and identifies as emo, i've always thought that the label was more for your lifestyle (like i'm very emotional, so i've always felt connected to the emo label, before i got into the music)
so i feel like the music isn't that important as long as you're being respectful ofc
also i'm sure some alt rock can definitely fall under the emo genre
i mean people still argue over whether mcr is an emo band or not so LOL
i hope my rambling helps :P
