have you ever played any game in your own specific way, and then when you go into an online forum or social space, you see that people consider your way of playing "cheating"?
places like minecraft, elden ring, and others have those types of playstyles that can be considered cheating, creating expectations and fake worries that weigh upon casual players.
like following the minecraft and elden ring examples, using KeepInventory on or using summons to fight bosses.
they are totally normal playstyles that don't end up harming anyone! yet people for some reason tend to complain about em or call you "weak" and "noob" for playing that way, as if it was wrong in any way.
personally, i think those expectations serve no purpose other than creating a fake sense of superiority to other players who want to enjoy the game without that much difficulty.
many of the games today seem to have this playerbase with a crave or need for difficulty, which creates a bit of a rivalry between people who don't like difficulty, and others who do.
i always think that games should be fun, they shouldn't make you mad or unconfortable for playing them, that's why i always liked games with little difficulty like story games, visual novels or just use these "cheats" in difficult games.
recently i started playing deltarune SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT and some of the fights are way too difficult for me, the recent secret bosses in chapter 3 & 4 have been a pain in the ass for me to beat, so i always cheat with them. why? cus i wanna see the story! if i have to be locked out of the lore that im interested in, i'll find a way to see it regardless of the rules. that sense of achievement or "glory" in games don't need to hold you back from having fun, you can play your games your own way. (as long as you don't hurt anyone)
please tell me your opinions on this subject, i'd love to hear your point of view!
thanks for listening.
