advice on how to deal with pet loss? [closed]

Helloo, just asking for a little advice on dealing with pet loss- My maltese is reaching his end, and just today during a bath, I believe he might even have a growth showing up on him too. I've had pets pass away before, but my Maltese is the one I've spent the longest time with, especially since we've been glued to the hip since he was a puppy and I was a little girl. I'm scheduling a vet appointment tomorrow, and I don't know if this growth is something extremely serious(but I have a feeling it will be), I would just rather prepare myself for the worst before it happens. Any advice on what to expect/do if this takes a turn for the worse? Thanks ahead of time :)
