Get to know Girls Generation

Are you someone who stumbled onto this group and has no idea about the girls ? Or are you a new fan who wants to get to know them better ? How about a long time fan who just wants to touch up on their Soshi knowledge ? Then this is the forum for you ! Here, I will go over all of the members of Girls Generation, and some fun facts about them ! Consider this your introduction to the group.

Overview 

Girls Generation, often known as GG, SNSD, 소녀시대 (Sonyeo Sidae), or Soshi, is one of the most iconic Kpop girl groups, debuting on August the 5th, 2007 with Into the New World (doesn't that sound familiar ?), and so they will be celebrating their 18th anniversary this August ! They have always been known for their stage presence and strong live vocals, and at the time of their debut were praised for their youthful, minimal makeup looks, showcasing their natural visuals. Before 2014, they consisted of 9 members: Yoona, Taeyeon, Seohyun, Jessica, Tiffany, Hyo, Sooyoung, Yuri and Sunny. Jessica unfortunately departed in 2014, but most sones are still ot9 and consider SNSD as 9 or none !

Taeyeon

Taeyeon is the leader of SNSD and a main vocalist. She was born on the 9th March, 1989, and is a Pisces. Her musical talents are inherited from her parents, as her father was a vocalist in a band and her mother won children's song competitions when she was young ! She is the eldest among her membres, but still acts like the maknae. She was also the first member to have a solo debut in 2015 with the album '/' !

Sunny

Sunny is a lead vocalist and a sub rapper in SNSD. She was born on the 15th May, 1989 making her a Taurus. She was born in LA, but her parents moved back to Korea because of the Gulf War. Fun fact, her uncle is Lee Soo-Man, the president of SM entertainment ! She has been dubbed by fans as 'The Queen of Aegyo', and is the shortest member of SNSD.

Yuri

Tiffany is a main dancer, a lead rapper, and sub-vocalist of SNSD. Although she's a main dancer, she said that she is the slowest at learning the dances ! She was born on December the 5th, 1989, making her a Sagittarius. Her talents extend outside of singing, as she can play the violin and also knows ballet. She's also SNSD's biggest prankster !

Sooyoung

Sooyoung is the lead dancer, lead rapper, and a sub vocalist of SNSD, and was apart of Route 0, the short lived Korean - Japanese singing duo during 2002 in Japan. She was born on February the 10th, 1990, and is an Aquarius. Nowadays, she focuses on her acting career ! She can also play the piano, and is fluent in Japanese !

Jessica

Jessica was a main vocalist of SNSD. Her and Krystal from F(X) are actually sisters ! She is fluent in English and was scouted by SM entertainment when she was on vacation in South Korea with Krystal. She was born on April the 18th, 1989, so she is an Aries. She left the group in 2014 to focus on her fashion brand, Blanc & Eclare. She is now famous in China for her acting career !

Yoona

Yoona is the lead dancer, lead rapper, a sub-vocalist, visual and center of SNSD. Her specialities consist of acting and dancing, and she claimed that she has more confidence in dancing and acting rather than singing. She was born on May 30th, 1990, making her a Gemini ! She has starred in many movies and Drama series. It is thought that her visuals set the standards for modern KBS (korean beauty standards) !

Hyoyeon

Hyoyeon is the main dancer, main rapper and a sub-vocalist of SNSD. Nowadays, she works as a DJ. Before her debut in SNSD, she worked with Janet Jackson and BOA ! She was born September the 22nd, 1989, making her a Virgo. She can memorize a dance routine just by watching it once or twice, and has learned many dancing styles like jazz, ballet, hip-hop, belly dancing, popping and locking !

Seohyun

Seohyun is a lead vocalist of SNSD. She focuses most on her acting career, starring in many Dramas and movies. She was born June the 28th, 1991, making her the Maknae ! Her musical talents extend outside of singing, being able to play the piano. She can also speak Korean, Chinese, Japanese and English !

Tiffany

And last, but definitely not least, Tiffany is a lead vocalist and sub rapper of SNSD. Her and Jessica were born in the same hospital in California. She is currently active in both music and acting. She was born August the 1st, 1989, so she is a Leo ! Her specialities include English and playing the flute, and she is best known for her eye smile !
