Deltarune | Undertale Theories (Ch3+4 Spoilers!!)

many of the theories i believe in are kinda already out there so im gonna put some speculations that i made myself, but first i must state that i believe that Carol is the knight. it just makes way more sense than for the knight to be dess, at least in my eyes.

-kris has had a soul before us: kris clearly knows a lot about the soul, and we never see anyone else talking about it or show a reaction except noelle and carol. like when noelle said that "kris used to be pretend to rip their heart out and chase me like a zombie", or the fact that carol has tons of heart shaped things in her house.

-determination and hope: i always thought that the concept of ONLY humans having determination was kinda unfair to monsters, but then i started thinking about what the humans couldn't have, that monsters do. and that is hope, hope is something prominent in monsters! and we can see that in almost every monster in undertale, like toriel hoping she can finally take care of a human that falls in the ruins, papyrus hoping to join the royal guard, undyne's hope to free monster-kind from the underground, alphys hoping she can be with undyne and so on, however, humans almost never showed hope. neither in undertale or deltarune, i mean. why the hell did 7 CHILDREN decided to JUMP OFF A FRIGGING CLIFF ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN?!?! is the surface that bad?!?! the humans in undertale also seemed very weary of asriel and imediatly attacked him when he tried putting chara to rest. and in deltarune we see that hopeless behaviour with kriss as well, they seem to be a tragic character, with a past very shaky from the perspective of the "egg" moments. however these elements can change, monsters can have a certain type of "determination" as seen with susie opening an entire fountain by herself. and kris hoping that they can have nice friendship with susie and that it will all be ok in the end. through conflict both determination and hope are meaningless and dangerous to some extent, determination becoming obsession, and hope becoming naivety. but when the two come together, they complete eachother, sharing a piece of both hope and determination in a healthy way. that's how i interpret it at least. i could be completely wrong.

-dark fountains are teleporters: ok this might sound weird, but i began overthinking on how ralsei can teleport between darkworlds, and the reason he never opens the middle door in castle town.
what i think is going on is that, whenever the lightners leave, and he makes preparations in castle town. he opens that closed door that houses the castle town fountain, and through that he examines and waits for new fountains to be opened, of which he can sense it. and so whenever it does appear, he jumps onto the fountain to teleport between dark worlds without the need of being carried by a lightner.
afterall, ralsei knows much more about the nature of darkness than we do, so i bet he could use it for his own objectives as well, i also think that's how the knight teleports in between dark worlds at an astounding speed.

-carol is not exactly evil: even though i believe carol is the knight, the knight itself is not stated to create the roaring in the "true prophecy" at the church. that is only told by ralsei in his iteration of the prophecy, meaning that it could be wrong. carol is the mayor of the town, i believe she would never want any harm to come to her family or the people in the town, even if she did want to make dark fountains and kidnap the shelter code guardians, i believe it is for a bigger purpose.
asgore is seemingly also working with her, unaware that she is working with kris, the reason as to why he could be working with her, i think it is to find dess.
asgore really wants to prove himself to toriel and the rest of the town that he is doing the right thing, he is the only one hopeful enough about his mess with the police (of course assuming that the mess is dess's disappearence) and one of the two hopeful ones to actively search for her. asgore in the lightworld, and carol in the darkworld. with the aid of kris due to their connection with the soul. (in short; i don't believe the knight or carol are evil, i believe something bigger and more dangerous is out there)
