genuinely, just start! its better to do it bad rather than to not do it at all. it takes time to get 'good' (subjectively), and even more time to get confident, but the time will pass anyway! 

try to write whenever and whatever you can - if a little line or limerick comes to you're on a walk, even if you have no context or surrounding story for it, write it down! the rest will come later.
