I really recommend "White Nights" by Dostoevsky - it’s a short and pleasant novella, perfect for one or two evenings, and it’s available online. I won’t summarize too much because I’d end up spoiling the whole plot, but it’s not just a typical tragic romance like it might seem at first. I personally think it’s a story about loneliness and about how it affects a person.
Since you mentioned being into "something to do with the way to live" I’d say this novella shows how getting lost in your own head, in your dreams or fantasies, can lead you to miss out on real experiences and relationships. And even the ones you do start to build can end up becoming part of your fantasy instead of something real and human.
It also touches on the desperate desire to escape, even from those we’re supposed to love because of the feeling of being trapped or isolated.
And honestly, even if you’re not used to, let’s say, "heavier" or older language, I think this novella is very readable and doesn’t require any advanced skills. You don’t need to worry like "oh no, Dostoevsky and Tsarist Russia" bc the story feels universal, and the kinds of loneliness he explores are still something many people face even today in the 21st century.
So yeah, I really recommend "White Nights! And if you do decide to read it, let me know what you think! 💗
