Happy World Refugee Day 2025

Happy World Refugee Day, 20 June, 2025. 2025 Theme: "Solidarity with refugees". This theme reaffirms that the lives of refugees are as important as those of the citizens of the country from which they seek refuge. We must have empathy for refugees, wherever they come from.

Currently, more than 120 million individuals have been forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations. This includes: 42.7 million refugees, 73.5 million internally displaced people, 8.4 million asylum seekers and 5.8 million people in need of international protection.

Solidarity with refugee is a kindness. Their life is not easy and unstable, we should welcome them and help them as much as we can to rebuild their life. We can all become refugees if our situation in our country forces us to leave our country. Be grateful if we are not like that.

I personally hope that more countries will become parties to the 1951 United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol. This is so that there is awareness and responsibility for refugees.

Together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), let us stand together in solidarity with refugees wherever they are. They need to be protected. They need shelter, access to clean water, health care, education, and jobs. They need a fair chance. Together we can rebuild their lives.
