The final antagonist in p5r was right

Spoliers for the 3rd semester of Persona 5 Royal Am I crazy to think this because I do understand his reality does take away free will but couldn’t a change of heart be considered the same thing especially near the end of the game where the thieves go to mementos because the public is forgiving Shido as that was the original reason why they went there even if Yabadolth was manipulating the public’s opinion couldn’t the initial jump to change the public’s hearts be kinda brainwashe because they were going to take away the public’s choice like Maruki does in the third semester

nananah i don't think that stealing mementos' treasure can be considered as pthieves removing everyone's free will. the reason that pts went for the mementos was cuz the society just latched onto newest fad without thinking for themselves. it was the general public giving up its free will. like, in yaldy's ending ppl praised the actions of pthieves without ever doing anything on their own. 100th corrupt adult confessed? the whole tokyo went yay okay️ in response without even thinking there might be a root problem. if anything, the game made it clear that pthieves going into depths of mementos was to return society's free will

but any other individual case? that can be argued
