A rant about a very small group of spacehey users.

Forum: Reclaiming the Internet Group

If I see another weird critical post by some person who obviously came from TikTok or Insta for the "vibes" post about how "dead" spacehey is or how "There's barely anyone active here" I'm gonna slit my throat.

It
seems that these people are always the ones who just customize their
profile, friend hundreds of people, and post bulletins but never even
attempts to interact with people on other blogs or forum posts or
anything of the sort..

Yeah, no shit. If you don't put in the effort to actually try to talk to people, people aren't gonna talk to you.

Is it that spacehey is dead, or are you just too lazy to look?

Now, I don't fully blame people like this.

It
can be pretty hard to go from getting the type of content you enjoy at
all times with minimal to no brain power or effort to having to actually
put in the manual work to find your group of people that you vibe with,
but got damn it, I'm so tired of seeing the same 4 posts about a
"problem" they made themselves.

Those dipshits need to go out and touch grass. This is basically what myspace was like before being sold for 580 million.

As a rule of thumb, I pay no attention to the opinion of teenagers, those morons are so used to slop that they think anyone not falling in line is insane somehow.

it's because the younger generation ain't used to this type of social media. most social media nowadays has algorithms that try to keep you on the site as long as possable with constant dopamine and things like that. also, the constant flow of random information kinda ruins the attention span

To be fair, SpaceHey doesn't make it easy to keep track of the conversations you started, or even just see the post you're replying to. But on the other hand there are the kind of people who join a Discord server and wait for ten seconds at most before declaring it dead. I wouldn't have thought that the term "instant gratification" was supposed to be literal, yet here we are.

Its the lack of an algorithm (thank god)

these people are so used to having the world fed to them on a vertical scrolling feed.
Its the same as people who say forums are dead because reddit replaced them.

if you can manage a good attention span you can find the best conversations and discussions.

I strongly agree with you. Now, I have only been on this site for a few days, true; and to an algorithm-rotted brain this place does kind of look dead, but so does Tumblr on the surface (and to be fair, I'll bet it's the same people saying the same thing about this place).

So far, I feel like spacehey is so much more genuine because of it though, and it feels honestly fresh in a sea of repetitive curated content. I'm really glad I have the chance to interact with another website like this after such a long time (the last one I spent a lot of time on that was very similar to this one got closed after a while, not going to risk saying the site's name cause I don't want to get written off as a freak - bear in mind it was lockdown and I was like fourteen).

Don't lose your head over those people. Like others have mentioned before me, they're the type with the shortest attention span. They're whining that SpaceHey can't keep them entertained like jingling keys to a baby.

They probably just don't get the concept of old old school social networking where you have to put in the work to meet cool people?

I think people are too used to how social media functions nowadays, thinking theyre gonna get that instant like hit that most modern popular platforms have so they get bored and hop off, its kinda sad
