hot takes...!?

hi yall!!

i'm new to this group and to spacehey in general and i've been watching house md for the past couple months (i'm currently in the middle of s6). i lowkey want to hear some hot takes yall have on the show or just opinions that you feel very strongly about, i'll go first!

- wilson is kind of an asshole...

--> i don't think this is too much of a hot take but i feel very strongly about this and i lowkey might go on a rant about this another day. but i see way too many people characterizing wilson as this kind, compassionate, teddy bear of a man and i just don't agree. don't get me wrong i LOVE wilson and he's one of my favorite characters but i mean this man is a known cheater and kind of a womanizer... (and that's only the beginning of his list of charges imo) that being said i do get a lil excited whenever there's a moment in the show where wilson is being an asshole because yesss!! i love this asshole of a man!!!

looking forward to hearing your guys' takes!! :D

i definitely agree!! wilson is not this amazing guy tha the fandom paints him as. he always says house is a jerk while also doing things that just scream being a jerk.

whenever i watch a show, i always have a lot of opinions on it so i'll try to list all my takes.

- amber is sooo overhated. her hate is just rooted in misogyny and she's such an interesting character and she was the only one i think worked with wilson.

- i loved the season finales 'house's head' and 'wilson's heart', but they did it too soon. i think some of amber's hate comes from that, the audience didn't have enough time to understand her character. wilson and her's relationship didn't last long enough, and not many people see them as an actual couple because of that.

- amber isn't that similar to house. when it comes to medicine, she's harsh, closed off and always thinks her crazy ideas are right so they're similar in that sense but their personalities are very different. amber is so much more caring and emotional when she wants to be, she's just naturally authoritative.

- i liked stacy. this isn't even anything crazy i just see so many people dunking on her. while she shouldn't have left nor made the decision for house, it's totally understandable. she still loved house, she didn't want him to pretty much kill himself. if she didn't leave then, she'd be stuck with him forever.

- foreman gets way too much hate. he may be more boring than the other cast, and i don't like the decision to make him dean in season 8, but he does nothing that should cause anyone to hate him. even he has some interesting plot points, like 'euphoria' and lying to save chase.

- the whole chase kid thing wasn't that big of a deal, she was dying and he felt guilt tripped to fulfil her wish. he's clearly not a pedo. if ur going to hate on chase, hate on him for fatphobia!!

- i don't like the fact that they kept putting house into relationships, they were so unnecessary. with house, love should be a thing that comes every now and then and only when he actually knows them. i didn't mind dominika, stacy and cuddy, but i hated him and lydia.

- i didn't like chase and cameron. chase was in love with her while she clearly didn't love him to the same extent, i'm not surprised that they divorced so soon.

- chase did the right thing killing diabla, it was one life for the cost of thousands. my wife is innocent!!!

- cuddy leaving was stupid, why couldn't they have just given her a bit more money?? was it that hard???? we didn't need more characters, we needed a good ending for cuddy that she deserved.

there's probably more but i think i'll stop yapping now.

omg yes i agree with amber being overhated. also another thing i see people complaining about a lot is that wilson and amber came out of nowhere and i kinda see where they're coming form because it did feel like a very random pairing? but i thought their relationship, for the very tiny amount of time it existed, was honestly pretty sweet? she did what house does for wilson but in a less toxic way if that makes sense

also yeah i never really agreed when people made amber out to be the female house because to me she always felt like that one overachieving girl in your high school english class that would try to talk over everyone else in the room during the class discussion on lord of the flies because she thought it would make the teacher like her (spoiler alert: it did not). basically just extremely ambitious and competitive, the only other part where i felt like house and amber overlapped was their general disregard to the consequences that their actions had on other people, just like house says it to wilson himself "you like that she's coniving, you like that she has no regard for consequences, you like that she can humiliate someone if it serves- oh my god you're sleeping with me!" (i think a lot of people use this clip to justify their amber-is-female-house take lmao) and also i think interpreting amber as a female house is something people do to justify shipping hilson? like "oh my god wilson literally dated a female version of house they're totally gay for each other!!" and don't get me wrong i'm hilson shipper too, i think amber and wilson's relationship, in a way, showed why house and wilson work so well, but it's definitely not because amber is just like house.

i was also initially one of those people that just didn't care about foreman tbh. but honestly his character is pretty interesting, i liked his whole "oh god i'm becoming house" internal conflict especially when he went to work at mercy for that one episode.

cameron and chase never really appealed to me, i think it's also because i don't really have a solid opinion on either cameron or chase but their relationship never really meant much to me. cameron always seemed to be so disinterested in chase (especially with the way she treated their relationship in the earlier seasons when they were still just hooking up) and honestly i don't even think it should've gotten to the point of marriage.

also chase killing dibala and cameron getting so bothered by it was something that annoyed me because cameron was the one that was initially against treating dibala and it felt hypocritical of her to get upset at chase's actions because like girl you never wanted him alive either!?!? and then marching up to house and telling him that he "poisoned" chase kinda annoyed me too because i kind of see where she's coming from (like from her point of view, it definitely could've seemed like house had influenced chase into being more like him) but like again, this isn't really even something house would do either imo so i'm not sure where she's coming at with this. and honestly they were right to end their relationship over this, i'm just surprised it doesn't happen sooner in the show.

I can't deny that my love for Robert Sean Leonard is built ENTIRELY on my beloved view of Wilson, but I hate when people deny a character has ANY inherent flaws just because they like them. Don't get me wrong, I love Wilson, but let's not just pretend core parts of his character don't exist... also resent the underlying sexism in Amber hate, because her development was done just as well, if not better than some of the male characters. People HATEEEE to see a strong woman living their best life, especially on their TV, but I love that the show allows for strong female characters like Amber and Thirteen to not only be strong but also have the same complexities and issues without losing their respect and undeniable intelligence in the show. I also love how House MD subtly tackles the Amber hate by comparing her to House himself (who most viewers excuse his terrible actions for because of his misunderstood genius).I'm referring to the time House was all like oh my god wilson you are dating female me.... LOL
