I WANT THE PROFILE BOX TO BE TRANSPARENT SO YOU CAN SEE THE BG IMAGE WHILE HAVING A FILTER OVER IT HELPPP

 Basically what the subject says. The layout that I'm using originally has the Profile 'box' with black as the bg color, but I actually want to see the bg image instead of the plain black. I tried typing -transparent- but it only looks white, and some gradient filter that the layout has. The thing is that I want to see the image there and some kind of filter over it. I don't know if this makes any sense but in the following screenshots you can see what I want to do.

SO the white box is what I called the 'profile box', and I want it to look like the upper part, the navigation bar (where it says home, browse, search, etc).
