What’s something you wish ppl did MORE of?

I sincerely wish for more people to pick up a book, listen to a book, and actually think about a book. I don't want this response to sound like a "raarrghhh media literacy dead!! there's more depth that meets the eye of this character that appeared for two whole seconds in my favorite show!!", but it genuinely pains me to see grown adults not knowing how to identify a well-rounded character and dumb the character down to the aspects they DO understand.

And it's not only that, but when people DISLIKE or even HATE a character due to this. The worst effects of that is people hating on others who do like the character for no good reason.

basic human kindness and empathy

maybe the one thing i wish people did less of is just assume things about people based on their demographic instead of getting to know them or seeing them as an individual person?

i'm a intersectional minority so i usually experience a lot of this first hand.

like people assuming because im trans i hate cis people

or because im asexual i am anti sex positivity or something

or because im black i only listen to rap music or whatever stuff someone has told me "wasn't black enough for me" (like cosplay etc)

or because im ftm AND black i must be hyper masculine and i can't enjoy cute stuff

or because im disabled im a lazy incel neet who can't get a job and stays inside because i don't try hard enough

i can legit go on

i wish people would pause before assuming what my beliefs are or what my lifestyle is and get to know me.

because it very quickly turns into stuff like...

"you can't make video games because you post lewd cospaly!"

"you can't enjoy veggies and going outside cuz youre a incel shut in neet!" (no one said that)

"you can't x because you're y and my limited view of y equals z"

it's also how facism spreads but then if i say something radical im labeled as a "woke mob conspiracy theorist" T . T

this is why i love spending my time on neocities, spacehey, and tumblr more because the more "indie web" side of the internet is so much nicer than instagram, tiktok, reddit, twitter, etc. this is one of the few sites that gives me enough space to be myself even if a few people are toxic like this.

i wish people had the basic human empathy as seeing each other as people with their own histories and personalities instead of a number or member of a group that's outside of your own.

Kids shouldn't be given this much leeway with learning. They should make an effort at school and stop blaming on teacher for every failure. But this might be me and my blood boiling over the fact the F students are inventor types are ruining Chromebooks for clout. And, my heart goes all out to the teachers that were shock that 5th graders can't even read.

tbh i wish ppl would like react to seeing something they dont like by just going "oh, i dont like that" and just ignoring it. everyone is so gd obsessed with hating shit or moralizing why hating something is the right way and liking it makes you bad and evil. like ok yes bigotry and hurting ppl everyone should be against that but like if something like a tv show or subculture or how someone acts makes u cringe just like ignore it and move on lol. like i dont like chappell roan or big mouth or whatever else but like i dont harp over it i just like, dont interact with them lol.
