you really don't need lore when coming up with an OC. it's all up to what you want honestly, I'd say avoid foxes and wolves if you're looking to be unique or smth

i honestly dont recommend avoiding a species all together just because its popular or "ununique"
foxes and wolves are loved for a reason :) sometimes its better to choose a "bland species" if you have a theme or idea for the design
