how to use spacehey tips:
i've been using spacehey for 6 months and this is stuff i've learned that helped me enjoy the site.
1) decorate your profile, just a layout is fine, fill in any info on yourself that u can, dw about doing it all in one day!! spacehey is a "slow" social media site so take your time on everything. no one is going to rush you
2) after you make a profile, make an intro blog. this would be a short blog to introduce people to more about you. think of your profile as a website, your profile page is goign to be your home page where new friends can find basic and fun stuff! so your about page will be a nice blog where you can talk about who you are. share your interests dislikes, you can share a before you follow or "do not interact" which is more for listing stuff like "no adults/minors" or reasons you may block someone.
think of a portflio versus a resume. a profile is to showcase, and a resume is for detail information.
use css layouts to decorate your blog!
if you want to mkae more blogs but youre not sure what to blog about look at your interest list and don't worry about making a long post! if someone thinks you are yapping too much they shouldn't be reading a BLOG post.
3)after you make your first blog post, join some groups!!! aim for at least 3 to 5 groups for your first time so you can take your time to learn. first don't worry about making your own posts of even commenting!! just read through the groups to see how you like it or see how others interact.
the key to groups is to participate and be friendly. you'll get the hang of forum blogs and bulletins the more you post, so start with the beginner threads made for you!
see if they have any "intro" threads and make an introduction! add others in the intro thread that you might like. join some of the "game" threads too!!
lastly, participate in some group bulletin boards. if you make a post the etiquette is to respond to seven other bulletin boards (dw too much if there aren't any bulletins or if none interest you, it's worse to force yourself to contribute when you have nothing to add)
this way the people who you added in the intro thread will begin to see you commenting on their boards and being active in the group. it's a quick way to make ACTIVE friends!
4) after you join groups, made your first blog, and customized your profile... just cruise easy :3
like i said spacehey is a slow social media site, so the activity you receive is what you give! if you spend time on bulletin boards others will leave comments with you. if youre tired and need a break, dw, the boards will be here when you get back and you won't be flooded with messages!
it's sorta meant for you to log in, spend about an hour, and then log off and come back tomorrow or a week from now! that's why bulletin boards delete in ten days! so that you have plenty of time to come back. and blogs and forum posts last forever so as they stay up, over time they will get more views. blogs from years ago are still active today.
so don't hold yourself back from being yourself and be prepared for a lot of conversations.
**here's a tip: try subscribing to blogs from people you actually like! they will give you good ideas of blogs to make yourself but you can actually make a friend from viewing their blogs too and they will read your blogs too! you can also use the settings to choose who gets to see your blogs, USE THIS FEATURE!! IT'S REALLY GOOD! make some blogs that are only for your friends it'll make your friend list more active when you share secrets or inside jokes with each other!
**tip#2: the difference between blogs and forums is that forums are more like blogs that other users can contribute to, when adding to a forum don't view it the same as you would when commenting under someone *else's* blog, forums are made to share!
**tip#3: personal bulletin boards are best for random thoughts and unserious stuff. since they only last about 10 days you don't have to worry so much about how many you write a week. if you post like 5-6 times thats just being very active. 2-3 is decently active 0 a week is inactive, and 7-10+ is pushing spam. think of bulletins almost like mini group chats? or like a tweet almost? it's for fleeting thoughts that don't make conversations that last for years.
sometimes you'll notice too that if you post something as a bulletin you may be asked by others to make it into a blog or forum so they can reference it for later. if you worry about somethign being posted in the wrong place, dw!! you can always delete it and post it as a bulletin/blog/or forum post isntead.
good luck and have fun and be safe on spacehey!!
