Philosophical theories/schools of thought/positions you feel are not talked about enough?

Forum: Religion and Philosophy

Half the time philosophy discussions just recycle and regurgitate the same old bs; Nietzsche this, Kant that, Stoicism for the five billionth time. But what about the weird, overlooked stuff?  Here’s a few that deserve more attention (and yes, antinatalism is on the list - because of course it is).

1. Pyrrhonian Skepticism - "I don’t know, and neither do you, so relax." (overoversimplified)

2. Process Philosophy - Reality’s not a bunch of static object's, everything is dynamic.

3. Eliminative Materialism - folk psychology is stupid, it'll all be replaced with neuroscience.

4. Phenomenalism - objects are nothing more than collections of perceptions or the permanent possibility of being perceived

5. Wang Yangming’s Neo-Confucianism - If you really knew right from wrong, you’d already be doing it. true understanding requires ethical practice.

6. Mereological Nihilism - Nothing’s actually a "thing," we just pretend for convenience, only simple, indivisible particles do.

7. Fictionalism - The idea that certain domains (like numbers or moral facts) are useful fictions rather than literal truths.

8. Antinatalism - Having kids is a inherently immoral.

Any other gems I missed? Are we doomed to keep regurgitating the same five white guys forever? Let me know.

Biased side note: Antinatalism should be more talked and thought about.

UPDATE and P.S: Calling any of these stupid like one user did and especially with their reasoning on why it is, is being narrow minded.

A problem with a lot of these is that they are stupid.
Any Philosophy that questions whether reality exists is utterly idiotic.
That's why people don't talk about them, there is no point in even contemplating them.
The Metaphysical world is very real, for Truth exits (if Truth doesn't exist, then nothing does). Truth's existence means that that the Metaphysical is real, for Truth exists in Metaphysics. Truth is what hold all of reality together, otherwise you would get pure chaos, and I mean total unadulterated chaos.

Skepticism, Nihilism, Materialism, and their adjacent philosophies are pretty pointless as they lead to nothing.

I agree with a lot of these not being talked enough, particularly the ones I subscribe to, Process Philosophy and Fictionalism.

And yeah the Philosophy101 person is often pretty annoying on these posts. None of these philosophies are pointless, though some may indeed be wrong. Im a pretty hardcore anti-materialist, but even I wouldn't call it "pointless" and say that it "leads to nothing". The only thing that necessarily does that is Nihilism, and that's mainly an irony of its content, not an insult to its nature.

Its also funny that Philosophy101 should appeal to the apparent mass consensus on philosophy in claiming no one even considers these because they lead to nothing, even though Materialism *is* often considered. Eliminative Materialism is one of the most dominant perspectives on psychology, particularly scientific psychology, in the modern day, to the dismay of Philosophy101 and myself both.

So yeah, luckily I think most of these philosophies are becoming much more important topics in the modern day, both for the philosophical and non-philosophical alike. They are being engaged with, regardless of if they are right or wrong, rather than mindlessly thrown out as "useless."
