How do I make a (good) fursona?

I've watched a few videos, and they've helped me get a grasp of what I should do. Especially a video by @otterlyomari on YouTube. The video helped me realise, I didn't have to be good at drawing or recolour a boykisser or some base to make a fursona, and that just writing about the character, was an option.

However, I'm having a hard time choosing a species. I've been told to choose what animal I'd like to be, or a favourite animal, but the thing is I can't decide. There's so many cool things about so many animals, that makes me unable to narrow down my options by much. Simply being really cute, keeps an animal on my list.

I was thinking about making multiple before I make one to represent me. I have a few basic ideas, but haven't started writing yet. There's also the fact I'm not that creative and a slow thinker, so I might not be able to write something good without a lot of practice.

Do you think reading would help me gain better ideas, maybe even enough to write lore about the character? But I'm a picky reader.

Do you have any tips, or recommendations for me, that could help me make my first fursona?

Edit: I could also make a hybrid species or my own species, but that doesn't make it any easier for me to decide. Plus it would be harder for me too.

Edit 2: I guess I'll be an otter.

If you like writing, maybe it will help to write out your character first and then choose an animal that fits their personality/identity.

The thing is I don't. I don't hate it, but I'd much rather do something else. But to be fair, I nearly never have written something for myself, mostly for school.

The thing is I have no favourite animal. I rarely pick favourites.

Well then start with something basic and go from there. It doesn't have to be good or original, it could just be something like a gray wolf or a black cat. Then, change the things you don't like.
