The Anemides of Aurethia

‘Anemides’ is a title given to the Four Winds who awoke the world by the mortal humans of Aurethia. The Anemides have always been, similar to the World itself; they weren’t created. They try to work in harmony, yet their own ambition for the world at some times gets in the way of that fully coming to fruition.

They are not Gods. They have power, but not an abundance of it. They do not have omnipotence.

Caelis, The East Wind

Caelis uncovered the sky and gave texture and light to it with the Sun, Moon, stars, clouds, and the further cosmos. He is deeply rational, wise, impartial and devoted to higher ideals, though he’s prideful and arrogant, emotionally detached due to his focus on rationality, which causes his treatment of the Velarii and mortals to sometimes be more objectifying than it would otherwise be.

The primary goal for Caelis is to make a world where knowledge and law reign. The humans he helped put into the world should research, respect, admire and govern their lives around the laws set by him and the things he put into existence.

Ignores, The South Wind

Ignores is fiery in personality: impulsive and emotion-driven. The things she values most are freedom, transformation, and power. Seeing destruction as a necessity for creation and change, she can never be fulfilled with making something once, and sees everything as a mere prototype until it fits her idea of perfection. Stagnation of any kind annoys her, and she constantly feels a need to move forward.

She’s bold, creative, seeking independence, and is passionate about her vision, yet her recklessness, though rarely, leads to destruction. She wants Aurethia to become an ever-changing and ever-striving landscape where conflict and strife cause the world to morph into something new.

Floris, The West Wind

Gentle, empathetic, nurturing. Floris is the mother-figure of all Aurethia, and values balance and beauty above all else. The circle of life is sacred to her, valuing birth and death equally as natural forces. She’s compassionate, but non-confrontational; she wants everyone to get along but is scared to make already bad situations worse by getting in the middle of it. She tries to be a healer, but sometimes doesn’t understand what needs to be done to resolve an argument, especially when violence may be involved.

Floris only wants to see life flourish in Aurethia, see it become one with the world, as she believes that is what was meant for the world when the Winds first discovered it slumbering. Though her obsession with preservation may get the best of her, and tarnish her thoughts when trying to be logical.

Umbrix, The North Wind

There is little known about the Winds, only what was told by the Velarii, but there is significantly less known about Umbrix compared to the other three Anemides. Some say he believed truth to be the ultimate weapon, which caused him to value privacy and secrecy over all else. Only speaking in riddles and cryptic phrases, a deeply intelligent mind was soiled by paranoia. He respected the other Anemides, just never fully trusted them.

Umbrix feels a need to guard the hidden secrets and treasures of Aurethia, ensuring that knowledge will never be misused for nefarious means, directly in opposition with Caelis.
