would you sacrifice your relationship for your own peace or their happiness?

I recently decided to end my relationship due to my future career and my own need for independence. as much as I wanted to continue what we had because I knew I brought a sort of light to his life when it kept falling apart now I am also a contributor, I wanted what was best for him, but I wanted to do things on my own and I learned overtime that we wanted to different things in life.
