Forum: Jobs, Work, Careers

I am currently pursuing to start a career in BIA or DA as a scope of Data Science. I am learning SQL, Python, Google Data Studio and some Tableau.  Is that enough? How much Python does a BI needs (if any)?

Would love it if anyone could share some experience on how to excel in this field.

I've been working as a data analyst for 3+ years. I've been using python less and less over time. Most of my day is data wrangling using sql or editing some business logic (again using sql).

Yes, I am in this line of work, and this work generates superb income. Part of the work, such as 24 hour technical support, I outsource, and that helps ensure that all technical problems are dealt with fast and efficiently, so I can concentrate on other critical areas of my business. This has markedly enhanced my productivity and business performance.

I've been an analyst for ~3 years , more so an Analytics Engineer at this point but here are my thoughts

- If you just want to do business analytics just SQL is fine.

- If you want to be a Quant Analyst or edge into Data Science or Engineering then you should learn Python.

- I think learning PowerBI in addition to Tableau is also a plus.

- I dont think Google Data Studio is necessary to learn as I dont see many companies using it but I guess wouldnt hurt to know. But I wouldnt focus your time on this as much.
