Yuri Gagarin was not only a hero of the Soviet Union but also a hero of humanity. The first human to go into space was only the son of a carpenter, his father, and a dairy farmer, his mother. Before entering the Soviet Air Force, he worked as a foundry worker at a factory near Moscow. He came from a working class family.

Gagarin had been interested in aircraft since childhood when a Soviet fighter plane crashed near his home during the World War II. In the Vostok Program to bring the first man into space, he became the first of 20 pilots accepted from a total of 154 qualified pilots.

The training began on 15 March, 1960 until he lift off with the Vostok 3KA Rocket carrying the Vostok 1 capsule on 12 April, 1961 at 06:07 UTC, launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Baikonur, Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR). For 106 minutes or 1 hour 6 minutes, Gagarin orbited the Earth until his landing at 07:55 UTC near Baikonur.

The flight was a great triumph for humanity, especially in the fields of science and technology. Politically, it showed the superiority of socialism over capitalism. Gagarin then awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and became an international celebrity. He travelled to many countries and was praised by many people.

Gagarin was a very smart and modest person according to the psychological tests performed during his training, such a great human. He was also a charismatic person, especially with his smile. May Gagarin's story always be told from generation to generation, forever.
