I'm happy Vessel got to talk about it and make light of these struggles. Caramel is not much about the lore of Sleep Token; it shines light on real life issues the group and especially Vessel have to face every day.
Caramel honestly broke my heart and I understand being obsessed with a band, but the whole point of Sleep Token is not only to understand the lore, it's about preserving a mystery about them, since the mystery is a big part of what keeps them so intriguing. But more importantly, it's just for their safety that the mask stays on. I simply do not understand the people who press so much on them and claim to love them even though they are clearly hurting them more than anything.
Vessel doesn't want us to be interested in him, he wants us to be interested in what he has to say, what the band stands for and what it can make us feel. Real worshipping comes with its part of mystery, and I am disgusted to see so many desecrate the art of some incredibly talented people just for their sake, just to solve a mystery that does not need solving, just to quench some sort twisted curiosity that they have...
None of the members deserve this harassment, none of them deserve to be treated like a puzzle to solve or as a weird fetish. Worship, but keep it human, and please leave them alone.
I'm happy they did it as a premiere on youtube to be sure all of those hardcore "fans" would surely be here and hear it clearly. I hope it was a wake up call for some of them.
What are your thoughts on the song and what it talks about?
