extremely late to this debate but oh my god fallout 4 is so much worse than I thought it was. I was never really grabbed by the story when it came out, so I had a lot of fun running and gunning around the wasteland. Just recently I reached the institute finally after years hahaha. I lost interest almost immediately upon getting there and started a new game. thought to myself "whatever I guess I just got kind of bored with the formula." Until I watched the new adamsomething video where I realized that the choices I just so happened to make are actually the only way that the story can play out. (spoilers from here on out but you aren't missing much) Tinker Tom is apparently the only character who can build the teleporter, so you have to in some way or another side with the railroad no matter what. The player is literally railroaded into joining "the railroad" 

When fallout 4 came out I understood people's anger, it wasn't as satisfying as New Vegas to be sure and the lengthy pregame sequence was infuriating but having skillfully avoided playing the story over the years, I never realized just how boring it is. I think I'm done with fallout for a while but If I go back to it, I'll be doing a heavily modded New Vegas playthrough. Light and love to all remember to never carry anger in your heart for more than a day or two.
