Heart of the internet? Wasn't it the front page of the internet before? Those redditors are getting too cocky, somebody give the internet a heart transplant!

Reddit is major terrible, yes. Their mod teams are their own circlejerk of narcissists that only pushed whatever benefits or agrees with them rather than the wellbeing of the users. OG members often get bullied off the site because they are not liking their vibe or whatever bullshit reason to ban-happy randos.

It's sadly one of the few useful sites that helps me with the technical problem that I have, other than Stack Overflow.

Reddit is good at smaller communities like hobbies, specific games, etc. I haven't seen as much toxicity there and for a lot of topics there's sadly just no other equivalent anywhere on the internet.

The big / general subreddits are a major cesspool though. I'd always get attacked on there for the stupidest and most innocuous things and have seen the same happen to many other people. If anyone wants to use reddit I'd just recommend to block all of the subreddits that appear on your front page by default.

Hey OP, this might interest you:
There's a subreddit in reddit that's tired of all the reddit-y attitude, so they're finding alterantives. r/RedditAlternatives. Even Spacehey there gets a shoutout in one of their recent posts.

Honestly, yeah, Reddit sucks... I literally only use it to check the status of certain websites or problems.

Like Faverolleroll said, it's great for smaller communities, but honestly? I've seen some of the most beautiful, kind, and welcoming members AND mods in those spaces. But, oh boy, the bigger communities? Let’s just say there’s a LOT of... let’s call them “sick” people there.

It really depends on the community and how well it’s maintained. Some big communities are actually filled with cool people, and then there are those smaller ones where... yikes.

And me? Oh, I’m the type of dude who never sends anything. But when I actually tried to ask a genuine question, some guy responded with, "Are you stupid?" Like, seriously? I’m just asking a question here, no need to be a jerk about it!

And don’t even get me started on the MODS. The fact that they delete whatever they feel like is SO annoying. And no, I’m not talking about the stuff that absolutely needs to be deleted. No, no, no, I mean the ones who just delete stuff because they want to impose their own opinion. I won’t name names, but there’s one subreddit that’s just... ugh. They delete any post or request about the awful state of the website. It’s like they’re trying to silence anyone who dare speak the truth. It’s SO STUPID.

And Reddit being the “heart” of the internet? Total bullshit. Sure, Reddit has its pros and cons, but seriously, the heart of the internet? Nah. I’m sorry, but not only have we ruined this planet, but we’ve also destroyed the whole freaking world of the internet too. Bravo, everyone.

Reddit's like those picture perfect dysfunctional families. From the outside it looks okay, you get what you're looking for and it's honest enough. But if you're part of it, literal hell

True, so true. I once asked where to see pinned subreddit posts (I couldn't see it because my app was of older version). Then one guy ridiculed me, threw insults at me for being dumb, incompetent and disabled for not being able to find the answer myself...

I see people saying that smaller communities are much more peaceful, but oh boy, no not at all. The situation above happened in a subreddit with <1000 members. And I get a lot of similar treatment in same niche subreddits.

I'm trying out the new Digg right now and it's boring. It also seems like there's a lot of those AI tech bros running around. Yuck! :X

Reddit and Bluesky are gigantic echo chambers where if you don't reinforce their ideas and thoughts you are an enemy. It's degeneracy to its fullest, and a huge reason why the world is the way it is. These ideas and groupthink blend into real life and it's disastrous.

dont feel bad ive had the same exact issues on reddit and if i ever try to go somewhere to say hey thats awful that using the website causes me pain everytime someone fucking goes "thats just the internet suck it up"

FUCK NO IDIOT!!

i just only lurk reddit now. if i want to visit a site to talk about stuff i like without being in pain i will go to a forum like spacehey or on discord cuz the people there don't have bad attitudes and anti social culture.

reddit used to be a place for community, it should be, and very few subreddits now have a welcoming and friendly community. maybe its just poor moderation but i think its just reddit culture at this point to be a massive asshole and then say "thats just how it is".
