alright, so im indian, and i live in the largest secular democratic country in the world, and that, to some people, may sound like a dream.
it isnt.
secularism and having many different nations, religions, beliefs and traditions is percieved as something many countries want to have. countries these days want a variety of cultures to coexist for harmony and equality. it isnt that simple though.
india has around 55 political parties in total, and 2 blocks which consists of the major two parties leading more minor ones. however, coexisting in such a large diversity is very difficult. im a hindu, meaning im the majority of the indian population, but recently the amount of christians and muslim population has increased as well.
(no hate to any religion, only terrorist and extremist groups)
of course its nice having different friends of different religions, but nowadays we face so much violence from other religions, even though hinduism originated IN INDIA.
i honestly find it tiring, because if i tell someone im religious, im instantly percieved as weird. but when a muslim or christian in india says that, theyre hailed with glory. of course i never hated their religions, but i hate the fact that most of them forget that their families were converted into those religions from hinduism, so at least they should remember their origins. instead, they turn against us and call us sinners for not believing in the "true god".
i dont hate anyones god or religion, but i hate having my own country people try and enforce their newfound religions on me.
also, due to secularism, so many hindus in india get brutally massacred or forcefully converted by muslims. i dont hate islam at all, but my point is its getting very extreme here. rapes and sexual violation happens so often, and its mainly due to religion and custom, not just hindus.
i honestly think secularism is very difficult to maintain in any country, and i see the conflicts everyday. india is a 3rd world country with one of the largest poverty rates in the world, and with such political conflicts between relgions, castes and traditions, i dont know how we'll ever develop.
sorry for yapping, lemme know ur inputs!
