Hi there, I'm Luci, the creator and moderator of this group. Welcome to Low-tech Living.
A little bit about me:
I'm from Portland, Oregon, USA and I work for a marketing agency. When I'm not at work, I like to unplug and spend my time writing, reading, retro games, doing arts and crafts, breaking bread with friends, and going on outdoor adventures. I also volunteer for a couple of nonprofits that help vulnerable people with basic needs. I can't have my own pets, because I have to travel for work, but I try to foster pets or pet-sit whenever possible. Btw I am a vegetarian too. I just love animals, they are so pure and precious.
The inspiration for this group came from being online and available constantly in my line of work. I've found a lot of relief in limiting my personal time on the Internet, turning my phone off at night, leaving my phone in the car when I'm out and about, writing physical letters to my family and friends, taking film photos instead of digital photos. When I do these kinds of things, life seems to slow down a bit, and I feel more light-hearted in general. I also find I'm more comfortable socially. I wonder if anybody else has seen benefits to living a lower-tech lifestyle. What has worked for you and what hasn't? What are your opinions about tech and how much we should allow it into our lives? All these topics and more are sure to be discussed here.
All that said, thank you for joining. I'm glad you're here. If you like, you can introduce yourself below or in a bulletin. Enjoy!
