As a jazz pianist I have to say any 2-5-1 is nice (e.g. in c major, D minor7, G7, C major7. Minor AND major. If I wanna sound extra fancy going down chromatically 2-dominant 7 of the flat 2 to the 1.
I like it because i can use it in almost any context (whether jazzy or not), and there's so much freedom in terms of extensions/alterations!
