i have been able to make quite a few goth things with old clothing and crochet. i had an old black velvet dress from when i was little that i was able to cut up into a tank top and detachable hoop sleeves! making things like legwarmers and smaller accessories are also pretty easy if you know how to crochet or knit. i also have some screenprinting ink (though fabric paint also works) to make patches or designs on basic clothing items. a good thing to keep in mind is also that almost anything can be goth! black clothing, jewelry, and makeup can all contribute to "looking goth". it can take a long time to build your wardrobe, so don't feel like you have to rush to get everything to look a certain way. making jewelry with stuff from a local craft store, getting clothes from garage sales (or just regular stores), and repurposing old things can all contribute. also, many people say that you can never shop at "fast fashion" places and be goth, but really there are lesser evils (though i hate that phrase). basically any non-secondhand chain store is going to be fast fashion because that is just what the fashion industry has become, so though places like shein that wildly undercharge (because they are basically not paying their workers) are genuinely horrible (with horrible quality) don't feel bad about getting a t-shirt from walmart or zumiez or old navy. the thrift store is not the only option; it is just the best one:). back in the day, goths did not just live off of hand-me-downs from the 50s that their grandparents gave them, you dont have to either. sorry that was a lot, but lmk if u have any questions :D
