I'd like to ask, what is your definition of a furry? I've seen way to many different answers on what it takes to be considered a furry. On one end, I've seen people say that all it takes is to love anthropomorphic animals, and on the other, people saying you'd need to have a fursuit and all. I feel like the main thing that would determine if someone is a furry, is if they identify as one, but many people online seem to disagree with me on this. I'm going to head to bed now, I'll try to check this after school tomorrow.

(Overly detailed answer ahead)
The furry fandom has been defined as a subculture, and, like in every fandom, the level of belonging to the subculture is defined by the interactions one makes inside of it.
By this we can say that there are different levels of belonging to the fandom: you're not just in or out, it's more like a spectrum of definitions that go from being outside and unaware of the subculture to being totally devoted to it.
I can see why some people would disagree with your definition: someone could tick all the boxes of being a devoted furry, but just by saying they aren't, if we follow your definition, they'd just not be. It's putting the focus on identity over participation.
I'm not saying it's a wrong definition, but personally I think it's... incomplete. Identity and participation are both key factors of belonging to fandom, so you need to be willingly participant in it and identify with it to be defined as part of the fandom.

I agree with your definition, I feel all you need is to just say you identify as one.
There are so many people who consider themselves a furry but don't have a fursuit, fursona, look at furry related art, or just don't interact with the community that much and I think that's ok!
I feel if you want to be a furry you shouldn't need to tick off a bunch of boxes to say you're a part of something

It's just someone who enjoys anthro art. It's a self id label like what other people said.
As I get older the less I identify with the label, but im terminally online so its ok.

personally i never liked the term "identify" because it makes it seem like we identify as real animals and gives people another reason to hate on furries.
but I've always heard its ok to not have a fursuit or even a fursona. in my opinion the only thing you need to be a furry is to say you are one :)

Now I've somehow ended up watching a documentary. I never knew there were documentaries on the furry fandom, but now I'm watching one.
Edit: Just finished watching "The Fandom"

In my opinion, I'd say that a person can only be considered a furry if he identifies himself as one; in my case, I've liked the concept of this kind of characters since some time ago, but didn't consider myself part of the community until I decided to integrate into a group dedicated to it and created a fursona; before that, I wouldn't have considered myself as a furry, despite I even had created some art.
