Should they bring back YouTube Rewind?

Just an interesting question I had that I'm not really sure I have an opinion on. Do you think that YouTube deserves another chance to make Rewind work again or was 2019 the final nail in the coffin?

i don't think they need to bring it back. Youtube, now especially, is just too big and diverse to have one video showcasing the whole platform. Two people who use it all the time can have completely different experiences.

i've been out of the youtube loop for probably years now and i think there's definitely a lot more cons to making a rewind.

kinda gonna piggyback off what Huntsylvania said, youtube is incredibly diverse and it'd be near impossible to capture a little bit of everyone's experience while simultaneously making sure no deserving creators feel left out and cram it into a video under 10 minutes.

perhaps as an alternative they could do something like a "flashback". similar to how they have shorts, they could do a feed that highlights popular moments on the platform over the year (and even previous years). that way they could fit a lot more content and people can scroll at their leisure. throwback compilations and playlists have always been a big thing on youtube so it'd be like that. it wouldn't have the same charm as the rewind we're familiar with, of course. but no matter what the alternative is, if they're still barely listening to their community like i remember them being notorious for, it might not go over well.

Only if they bring back dislikes. Also, they didn't stop because of "redditors bullying them", it's because it became the most disliked video on the platform

Zero is right, and them not doing it in 2020 because of "societal unrest" is just a cope on their end. It is important to understand why it was so lampooned; they tried getting all these legacy celebrities in it (ie Will Smith) when that isn't the essence of YouTube. Well, at least that was the case at one point. Now it's just this weird mix of legacy media that they endlessly shill and influencers.
