Did you try RSS?

if you don't know rss is kinda "ancient" software-independent file
format like html. nearly all websites have this (spacehey too). you can
follow-up all the people and groups that you want independent from
platform they are using. you just need the feed url and a rss reader app
and you are done.

i am using it nearly two years. initiallly i
thought it might help to fill absence of not using mainstream social
media and i can focus more the topic related my hobbies. i won't lie. it
didn't work for reducing screen time. but i am reading more articles
and interesting blogs. i decided to use it for spacehey as well. then i
discovered here and here we are.

did you try RSS? how do you
browse internet and spacehey? what do you think idea of using RSS to not
using vertical sliding machines? i don't want to write more about it. please ask questions except similiar questions like what is RSS? but i can recommend some apps and kick start advice for how to adapt it. (it's not gonna work but you can try,,,,)

seeing this forum post made me realize how long it's been since i last checked my rss feed. i have so many articles to read...

which kinda summarizes my overall experience using rss. it's a useful tool for keeping track of the parts of the internet i actually care about, but i only find myself checking my feed every couple weeks

idk why but i guess recommendation systems making me more lazy. i thought i always want to be in control and be precise what i watch and read. i did might narrowed down the algorithm's recommendation topics on all types of social media but using it in this way didn't seem right either. i think rss'ing it the right way but using it constantly is hard.

how do you using it? are you following some news feeds or something different?

My Feedly reader has been great for waning me off social media.

The past six months it was the only scrolling app i had kept on my phone, but I didn't find myself stuck in it. And now I only use it a couple times a week, so I've effectively overcome the compulsion to grab my phone and start looking at my phone that I used to have.

i tried in the past but always found myself not using it as much. I feel like I use my email as a way to keep up with websites nowadays. Plus i lawyas feel like every rss reader was trying to nickel and dime features that should be pretty standard so that stopped me from full engrosing myself in rss
