So basically theres this emo kid in one of my classes and they wear MCR, PTV, and other cool band shirts and i really wanna talk to them but they always have their head down. Im pretty sure they have also talked to someone I know and dmed them a kinda weird message so idk what to do... T_T

Compliment their shirt and ask about their favourite song from that band. A genuine compliment will open up the person and put them in a good mood, increasing the chances of a conversation. Similar tastes gets the conversation going and builds friendships

FIRST OF... don't overthink
the best way to have a lonnnng relationship is to stay natural from A to Z so the person in front of you won't appreciate someone you're not be yourself, full honest
and if it works damn cool, if not meh guess it was not meant to be (not necessarily your fault, some ppl match with some others and sometime they don't!!!)
