I've been interested in romhacks because of how many dead features there are in the older games making certain parts inaccesible and how expensive and mediocre the newer games have gotten. Only problem is, I'm really not sure where to start and I hear a lot of them step the difficulty up a lot.
What are your recommendations? Should I actually get into these?

back when i was fully into finding rom hacks i played Pokemon Insurgence, Uranium, Zeta/Omicron, outlaw, dark rising/dark rising 2, sweet/sweet 2, blaze black, volt white/ their sequels. Those are just some of the games i played im not too up to date now but those are classics

If you just want a nice, refreshing experience I really recommend Emerald Seaglass. It's a nice take on Emerald that makes playing the games feel good in a way I'm not sure ORAS was really able to.
