Write one page of poetry.

Write whatever you want no one has to see it.

Do the same thing again and again.

Write what comes to mind.

Do this to get used to writing poetry.

norteI don't think there is such a thing as good or bad poetry, I think that as long as you manage to express what you want it is an achievement, don't be hard on yourself, write what you feel or want, poetry always looks deeper depending on how many synonyms you know, how rare the word is to say what you want.

i think there are levels of poetry that can better reflect what you want your voice to sound like. at the base level, you can just ramble for as long as you want. but poetry is taking those base ramblings and communicating what those rambles feel like to you. what do you imagine these rambles could turn into if they became something other than words? find your central theme, memory, emotion, belief. dont worry about sounding clever, instead try to sound honest and vibrant. look at other writers and take time to reflect on what they use to express certain ideas. its all just feelings! its both beautiful and confusing at once so dont be your worst critic, it is always worth trying again. keep drafts, put them together, hoard every quote you like. have fun :)
