only A Fever You Can't Sweat Out collector's box set!
I've been thinking about this for a while cause I'm
obsessed with this set and well since I can't get my hands on it, I might as
well make a forum post about it... sigh...
I unfortunately couldn't find any
information about the original retail price!
To this day the price has certainly went
up to an extreme, from what I've seen there are some on eBay that retail for anywhere from 400 to 1000 dollars.
I'm sure it's listed somewhere else for cheaper but unfortunately sellers will try to take advantage of people with crazy prices, so be careful if you're thinking about getting this.
The
box specifically included:
★ Certificate of Authenticity ★ Original CD, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out ★ DVD, Live in Denver ★ Lyric cards ★ 2006 tour program ★ Poster ★ Photo cards ★ Phenakistoscope (spin wheel) ★ Mask ★ Fake Newspaper article ★ Blank notebook
The
live in Denver DVD, aside from the concert itself, featured a "movie" version (as they called it) containing a documentary with backstage clips of the band, short interviews and insight on their recording and writing process during AFYCSO.
The tarot style cards (personally one of my absolute favourite parts of the set) each represent a song on the album, and had the lyrics to each song printed on
the back side.
Overall,
I think the attention to detail in this set is what makes it not only a really beautiful and rare collector's item, but in my opinion an actual extension to the world of A Fever You Can't sweat out. One thing I always loved about this album and era of Panic! is how immersive and curated the aesthetic of it always was, going as far as bringing a full circus on stage with song specific performances, and this box really adds to the legacy of this bizzarre, opulent yet corrupt, flashy dark cabaret world that Fever is. The fake newspaper
article, the way the CD itself is repackaged to look like a retro vinyl, the photocards replicating old 50's pictures, the beautiful time accurate art style of the lyric cards, EVERYTHING in this set is exactly as it should be. Even the box itself is a piece of art in my opinion. I love when bands do this with their merchandise. Every item in the box feels intentional and thought out, and not just something to run up sales.
Now...
enough talking on my part, here are some pictures for you!
As I made it very clear, this is probably my favorite release Panic! ever did, but I want to hear about your thoughts as well! Did you know about this set? What do you think about it? Let me know if you want :)
Swear to shake it up, if you swear to listen...
