I loved the Great Gatsby and Dracula, I recommend those two if you haven’t read them!

i think you should read Notes From the Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky. it's an interesting character study that still applies today.

Definitely The Great Gatsby! Also this one's a children's book but it's still a classic; The Little Prince. It's legit so good it's my favourite book and I'd highly recommend it if you want a slightly easier and shorter read that's still a classic

Lord of the Flies is absolutely my favorite; other than that, I love the French. Zola is beautiful: Germinal is absolutely soul-crushing. Also, I enjoyed The Ladies' Paradise by him.

I first read Little Women in 6th grade and looooved it. Totally recommend that one. I also think the Sherlock Holmes series is very much worth a read. Other than that: Chronicles of Prydain, Tuck Everlasting, Anne of Green Gables, and Tom's Midnight Garden. For a more serious read: All Quiet on the Western Front and Night (both WWII).

I would recommend:
the picture of dorian gray - Oscar Wilde (dark and funny, absolutely beautiful use of language. man doesn't age but a painting of him does, supper twisted. hints of gayness because its Oscar Wilde)
pride and prejudice - Jane Austen (completely different beautiful romance literally had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the characters to get together, plus some good plot twists)
Carmilla - J. Sheridan Le Fanu (like a better version of Dracula, female centered and so funny, notes of seduction and temptation definitely recommend)
the wind in the willows - Kennith Grahame (again totally different, technically a children's book that was written for Grahame's daughter but since its old its more at an adult reading level. supper adorable animals that have many flaws, like humans, and are actually very civilized and distinguished)
if Beale street could talk - James Baldwin (there are not enough things I can say about this book, James Baldwin captures the human experience so well its breath taking. two people who love each other are forced to over come horrible circumstances due to racism, vey heart wrenching and stirs a want for justice in the reader)
the catcher in the rye - J.D salinger (yes I know this book is extremely popular and yes I know holden can be absolutely insufferable sometimes but hear me out, the way this book explores emptiness and depression is groundbreaking. obviously we don't know what holden is struggling with but its clearly something that many can relate to. if you feel alone or othered ever, read this book it will make you feel seen in some way)
Valley of the dolls - Jacquline Susann (please please read this book, the way Susann explores fame specifically female fame is so accurate and real especially now. if you think Chappell Roan was right to yell back at that photographer then you will sympathize with these girls. the way we fallow the downfall of all of these incredibly unique and beautiful women is absolutely heartbreaking. being a famous women is not for the weak)
how I became stupid - Martin page (this book is such a special funny little nugget I found at a used bookstore in Breckenridge Colorado. Page's writing is so funny and ironic. this book details a man who is literally too smart for this world. he is miserable because all he sees is misery around him and he cant afford anything because he doesn't want to work for a corrupt country. so his solution? make himself stupid! he tries alcohol, suicide, and stock marketing and it is absolutely ridiculous the way things seem to be out to get him.)
