just some opinions and doubts

ok, so I have some discourse with my friend over this topic, and I need another view on this:

So the thing is, my friend (let's call her A) is a carat, and she thinks that bts is overshadowing SVT and that Hybe doesn't pay as much attention to them because of it. She also thinks that bts did not pave the way and that because of them, other groups haven't gotten to shine and that their music is mid anyways

So me being a 4th gen stan (she is mainly a 3rd gen stan), don't care much. Still, in my opinion, yes bts did pave the way in some sort, mainly by bringing kpop into the limelight. Still, I do not give them ALL the credit for the success of kpop, but I disagree with her that Hybe only pays attention to bts and that yes because of them a lot of groups did not get the recognition I don't blame the members but she does. and their music has helped a lot of ppl i get that SKZ helped me through a lot too and she has a lot of stereotypes about bts fans being crazy and obsessed which is not true some of them r normal

so I want to side with her because she is my friend but I also think she is very toxic, any opinions?

and is w2e considered kpop?

I've been listening to kpop since 2010 and got to watch how quickly the industry grew in the last decade.  I'm not a huge bts fan, mostly because I was really into b.a.p when bts debuted,  but I do believe they grew their fame very naturally.  Seventeen has a very different style and different fan base to bts. Both groups were already very popular in their own right when hybe became a thing and acquired pledis/seventeen. Hybe focuses on bts because they are in charge of the group.  Pledis is still in charge of seventeen. I wouldn't say bts is overshadowing seventeen, they just have louder fans and more western media coverage, their companies also have different budgets and promotion plans.
