Vinyl is good b/c of the mixing.

This is a hill. I will die on. Vinyl is good because of the mixing. While vinyl is better than an MP3 in every way, it does not beat lossless files.

That doesn't mean vinyl is useless, though. It doesn't mean that the sound quality doesn't sound better than other sources. It sounds great because of the mixing. Vinyl can only hold so much sound information in the grooves. Those grooves can only be so deep. And the record needs a lot of space to grab all the finer details and relay them through the needle. Deep waveforms take up a lot of space. That's why the best vinyl for sound quality are those 12-in fast playing singles. It is the limitation of vinyl that makes the mixing so much better. If you could only hold so much bass, that means you need to turn up the quality of the other sound sources. Many vinyl records were made before the loudness wars and are therefore mixed in such a way that clarity is the number one concern.

This is why I love vinyl, this is why I collect vinyl.

Well said, the mixing on vinyl is unbeatly compared to other music types.
