There's con badges that act like a ticket of admission and proof of purchase for the convention in specific you're going to, then there's artistic badges that people wear around conventions that usually has their character or sona on it!

Conventions are great to go to and you can spend a lot if you're not paying attention around the dealer's den (convention marketplace), but really you don't have to buy art or stuff if you don't want to and the real expenses are things like the ticket itself, hotel room cost if you're out of town, food, transportation, that sort of stuff. And you definitely don't need a fursuit haha

Bastler’s right! I’d add on making a google or excel sheet for budgeting/saving for your trip. Also there are packing sheets for furry conventions so it’s easier to keep track of what your bringing. An example is one here: https://zeetheraccoon.com/products/furry-convention-packing-list. You don’t have to use this one specifically, just one I’ve used personally, there are many more online :3

If you've never been to a con at all def aim for comfort and safety your first time. Many people have over burdened themselves their first time and end up having to tap out and ruin their own fun time.

For spending, it really depends on your area and cons around. Cons where you don't need a badge to get in the building, just in main areas, you could try dipping your toes in the water by hall con-ing it. Put on your best merch and hang out, you'll see PLENTY of cool things, as well as getting a feel for the atmosphere and seeing if it's something you'd like. Or going on a Sunday where half day tickets are very cheap.

If you can get lucky you might have friends in the area you can stay with or be a short trip away to save on hotels, and you can of course bring your own foods.

Cons are worth it if you can handle a lot of noise, crowding, and stimulation. But, you might just find your people there!
