Do you like violence? Regulated, unregulated, armored, bare skinned? There's been plenty of forms of combat sports across all of human history. We like fighting, it's one of the most primal instincts a creature has.
These things never stopped, and have scarcely changed over time. Duels became sparring, and the blades became dull, but we all still really, REALLY like to swing sticks at each other. Though the more monetized markets of armored/armed combat are primarily in European countries, the US has plenty of Medieval Martial Arts, tucked away in the corners of the states. Leagues like ACW, IMCF, ACS, etc. Continue to ignite the passion of 'knight fights' all over.
Its pretty cool, you should check it out. I'm a Buhurt Fighter. Full body steel armor, weighing between 60-100lbs (mines at about 88-90 lbs) and full steel weapons, (Dulled blades, but no less damaging.) Typically ranging between axes, swords, (to a lesser extent, swords are pretty useless against armor.) Maces, etc. Theres weight limits and armor rules so you cant kill each other, but otherwise? Its about as primal as it gets. If thats ever interested you, look around, theres likely a team closer to you than you realize. And they're as excited to get you in armor as you are to try it on, trust me.
