any realistic books about the collapse of civilization (that aren't young adult novels)

hi people. im fucked up about the direction that my country and the world is headed with the incoming fail nuke that's gonna be dropped on all of us by the trump administration. i have a great intellect and i predict that there will be mayhem very very soon in our lifetimes and the world order as it stands will dissolve. so does anyone know any realistic books about a precarious situation such as this, where it seems that a great war is on the horizon that could threaten to destroy everything? or maybe one in the aftermath of it where it's about how humans move on? cheers.

I haven't read any dystopian sci-fi at full length in a hot minute, but I do have some short story/novella recommendations:

  • "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson (contains sexual language/content, misogynist language and lots of violence) (IMHO: required reading for any dystopian fiction fan, whether or not you enjoy a zombie apocalypse story)

  • "Mono No Aware" by Ken Liu (one of my all time favorites)

  • "Speech Sounds" by Octavia Butler (contains some sexual content)
